Our Team Approach
Every Andrew Residence staff member contributes to the provision of quality services by taking on several roles. For direct service staff these include position specific tasks, program manager responsibilities, and general duties related to working in a residential facility.
Position Specific
Every employee has a position description, which outlines specific position tasks. All disciplines work together to best meet the needs of our residents. At Andrew Residence, in addition to the support service teams providing administrative, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance and financial services, you will also work alongside nurses, social workers, mental health workers, living skill specialists, therapeutic recreations specialists and others!
Program Manager
Most of our full-time direct service staff have a resident caseload. As a program manager, staff meet individually with residents on their caseload weekly to review individual treatment plans, discuss goal progress and problem-solve barriers to goal attainment and overall wellness. Program managers work with residents to develop and alter goals based on each resident’s strengths, needs and vision of recovery. Program managers communicate regularly with resident psychiatric providers.
Residential Responsibilities
Routine tasks are completed by all staff. For staff working on the resident floors this may include providing floor desk coverage, monitoring residents in the dining room, or assisting residents with room cleaning. It is our philosophy that a flexible, collaborative approach to everyday tasks demonstrates a commitment to teamwork from all staff within the organization.

Starting at Andrew Residence
Direct and Support Services
What to expect at orientation
On your first day our Human Resources Department will meet with you to provide initial training that includes vulnerable adult policy and procedures, fire and safety procedures, personnel policies, infection control procedures, and first aid. In addition, Andrew Residence will assign you various training videos on Relias to review in your first couple months. Orientation specific to individual job responsibilities is arranged by direct supervisors.
Direct Service Staff orientation includes meeting with all staff to learn their specific roles and functions within the interdisciplinary team. Training specific to your job position will be provided by others who share your position responsibilities. There is a lot to learn and tasks you may only complete occasionally. While we wish to introduce all aspects of your role to you within the first couple weeks of training, there are always tasks or experiences that you will need ongoing guidance and support to navigate. It is expected that issues will come up for which you will need more experience to feel prepared to handle independently. Learning is ongoing and robust training is provided annually.
